ABOUT

Hello, world
My name is Avi Odenheimer. I am an architect living and working in Austin, Texas. All of the paintings on this website are original watercolors that I have painted. They are not prints and were not made with a computer. All of the paintings are 9" by 9" on 140lb watercolor paper. I ship the paintings flat and not framed. A certificate of authenticity is included. Payments are handled by Shopify. I do not get any credit card information.

ARTIST STATEMENT

This project started as a way to crystallize my thoughts about architecture and life in general. I paint late at night after long work days and I let my thoughts come out as a stream of consciousness. Many of the ideas for my paintings come to me as visions and the rest of them start as more abstract ideas. In some of the paintings, I am testing a hypothesis or trying to prove a point. The result of this exercise is what many people call speculative architecture. The themes I am exploring are form, materiality, architecture, environmentalism, nature, privacy, domesticity, and urbanism.

SECURITY

Security is extremely important to me. Payments are handled through a company called Shopify which manages 31% of all sales over the internet. I do not see or store any of the buyer's payment information. If you feel uneasy purchasing over the internet I am always happy to work with you to find an alternative option.

PRICING

Why are my prices considerably lower than other artists? I started selling my art as a way to find a good home for the growing stack of watercolor paintings that were taking up too much space in my room. I wanted to sell at a price that would allow my friends who are students to own original art. While purchasing just one painting is welcomed and appreciated, many people want to buy multiple paintings and my prices allow them to do so.

FAQ

A: It is as safe as buying anything online. I use a service called Shopify to handle the payments. If you ever bought anything online, most chances it was through Shopify.

FRAMES

Ikea makes some great frames that are the perfect size for my paintings (without the Mat). I would recommend the KNOPPÄNG at 9x9 " or 23x23 cm. HOVSTA and LOMVIKEN also work well.
